Xylene is a clear, flammable, volatile aromatic, transparency hydrocarbon liquid. It can be dissolved with alcohol, vegetable oil and most other organic solvents but insoluble in water. It consists essentially of the ortho, meta, para xylene isomers of ethylbenzene.
