Toluene is a transparent colorless liquid, light odor and quickly volatile. Toluene is not soluble in water, alcohol, ether and organic solvents. Toluene is mainly used as a solvent in production of variety of products such as pharmaceuticals, paints, inks, rubbers, adhesives, synthetic resins. It is also added to increase octance rating. In biochemistry, Toluene is also used to extract Hemoglobin from erythrocyte cell.
