Ethyl Acetate
Ethyl Acetate and uses
Ethyl acetate (EAC) is a transparent colorless, volatile, flammable liquid and with a fruity characteristic odour . EAC is highly soluble in common organic solvents (alcohol, ketone, glycols, esters) but slightly soluble in water. Due to the dilution properties, EAC is primarily used as a solvent. At a high purity, it is used in cleaning circuit boards and as nail polish remover. At lower purity, it is used in printing, pharmaceutical, perfume, food, decaffeinated tea / coffee and herbicides. EAC is also used as formulatioins in coating for furniture, agriculture, construction & marine equipment. It is also used to collect and study insects due to its non-hygroscopic properties.
